Things I am totally over

* Standing in line for an hour at the Apple store--despite having made an appointment and arriving early for said appointment--only to have my beloved iPod pronounced dead in about 10 seconds. He picked it up, yes, but I don't even think he LOOKED at it.

* Drama queens, mama's boys and/or passive-aggressive people.

* Failing to find a wealthy benefactor who wants to pay me piles and piles of money to live a life of leisure, or at least a solid, all-expense-paid month of leisure so I can read a book in the sun and finally get through my DVR. (I know I went on a little vacation in May, I know. But it seems like sooooo! looooong! ago!)

* My hair. Yes, I got it cut, and no, I am not totally ready to talk about it yet. Put it this way: On the disaster scale, it's probably more of a heavy thunderstorm than a hurricane, but try telling that to the sad, broken branches lying in the middle of the street. (Cue frowny face.)

* That even the most spectacularly convincing case of denial doesn't make pepperoni pizza and Oreo Cakesters calorie-free. Or walking around the block a major workout.

* The battery on my phone repeatedly dying in the middle of conversations. (This might have something to do with the fact that I repeatedly forget to charge it. Tomato, tomahto.)

* This girl canceling on me tonight to go another girl's birthday party, which I was NOT invited to. Yes, I realize how second grade that sounds.

* Did I mention the drama queens and mama's boys?

You?

Michael Jackson. THERE, I SAID IT! I'm so tired of hearing about it. Yes, he was influential. But he hadn't made a album in like 10 years. And her was also creepy and weird and nuts.

Ahhh, I bet your hair is beautiful, just like YOU! ! ! !

I agree about Michael Jackson! There are other people that died recently that were a blip on the screen. Nobody liked him this much when he was alive!

I'm also incredibly over creepy guys at work who still think it's acceptable to be liked "OOOooo you look goooOOOoood." when I wear a dress to work. Gross.

One more thing...the mama's boy thing? Very annoying. My best friend just cancelled her wedding because when she said "I feel like you would choose work over me" he called his mom to back him up on his reasoning.

All of the above? Also, television channels that UP the volume when a commercial comes on.

People who make commitments and then fail to honor them.

But umm wait -- they TAKE appointments at the Apple store? Seriously? Huh.

And we need pics of the haircut. I'm debating a haircut, and I need someone to talk me out of it!

Sorry to hear about your iPod.

Really sorry to hear about your hair. You probably still look great, but there's nothing that makes me feel more out of control of my life than a hair cut I don't like.

Which hairdresser did you pick? Tell us all about it and you'll feel better! And we'll get to read another great posting. I love logging on and seeing that you've posted. It's a little treat just waiting to be read!

Unless you got a crew cut, it's hard for me to imagine that you look anything less than gorgeous. But not so hard to imagine that you feel less than gorgeous, because that happens with WAY too high a percentage of new haircuts.

And that girl who blew you off--I SO want to pull out my forth grade weapons on her (rumors about her hairy belly button, and a giant list of "People I Like" posted on my desk, without her name...)

Here's to a relaxing break for you, soon!

I didn't know you could make an appt at the apple store either.

I hope that girl who ditched you had a really lame time at the party. :)

I'm sure the hair looks great, but your thunderstorm analogy was perfect!!

I'm tired of my contractor saying he'll be over to work on my disassembled kitchen, then not showing up and not calling. no wonder contractors have a bad reputation.

as for your ipod, i learned this little trick when i took my ipod in (by appointment) the other day. Now, this ONLY works with the OLD ipods...one of the first few that came out. if yours is like 4 or 5 years old and pretty thick, then it might just work. put the ipod down on a flat surface. lift it parallel to the surface, then slam it down. seriously, this is what the apple genious did. he says the old/original ipods use an arm to write/read the disc, and oftentimes, this "2 inch drop test" will set the arm back on the disc. So, maybe that will help. if not, it will at least feel good to slam the damn thing down, right? :)

and oddly enough, as i was typing this, my contractor called. his ears must have been burning.

Scotch - or should I say, the drinking of scotch by some "person" who doesn't know when to quit, and I am NOT talking about me! LOL

I've heard that about the Apple stores and iphones before. Sucks.

the apple store told me they would no longer do repairs on my ibook /c it's considered "vintage"- all that after waiting 50 minutes beyond my appointment time!!!

oh, but i don't agree w/ the other commenters about MJ. i still can't quite get enough... but i can understand that many people would feel it's too much coverage. just not me.

New to your blog: I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I'd say I'm over the 80's. I was happy when they ended the first time, why oh WHY do they have to continue to make a come-back and when, please God, will it end again?
