Waiting for My Real Life to Begin

The life and times of a girl named Swishy.

Hi friends

You know that cold I was coming down with last week? Yeah. It's not going anywhere. It's all, you'll feed me ice cream for dinner if I make your throat hurt? You'll let me lay on the couch and watch The Real Housewives of New York City if I make your body ache? Sold! Where can I put my stuff?

But! A couple days ago, I was like, I can sit on my couch and feel crappy or, thanks to my lovely friend Allee, I can sit on a beach and feel crappy, so guess what won? (The couch, of course. There's no TV on the beach!) Just kidding.

I spent six glorious hours on the beach the other day, and I have the scorched skin to prove it. I don't know if it's a Pisces thing or a Swishy thing or a girl who grew up by the Jersey shore thing, but I love the ocean. I just do, I love it so, so much. Being by the ocean is good for my soul. So even though I'm back on my couch, congested and achy and sore, I'm a happy girl.

Ahhhhhhh. I'll blog more later. Like maybe after I figure out how to make waves in the bathtub.

OH, you lucky thing. (The beach, not the cold) I absolutely love the ocean as well. It's amazing how when I'm at home I can't sit still, but just let get to the beach and I can lay there for HOURS watching the ocean and drinking cold beer, with a radio playing softly in the background.

Yum.

That's me - beach or mountains. Of course, I'm landlocked in the flatlands...

Feel better soon!

Well if you have to feel crappy anyway, you might as well feel crappy on the beach! That is great that you got to the beach! Hope the cold goes away soon!

I'm so sorry you're feeling blechy!

As for the beach thing, I'm feeling ya. While growing up I spent every summer day on the beach in SoCal and it's just part of me. It's amazing how a day at the beach can just lift your spirits!

it's the soothing sound of the waves and the salt air that makes you feel better. when i was a kid, and sis and i would get sick, mom would make us go get in the ocean. something about the healing properties of salt or something. you should have gone swimming :)

what beach were you at? i thought you were in a landlocked state?

You got the "crud" too? We had it here in our house for way too long.. 3 rounds of different antibiotics long. My mom use to order spicy Chinese food,Won Ton soup and eggrolls with extra hot mustard to help clear a cold and she told me to go the beach for the salt air and water to clear everything up. I was sick a lot my senior year. You could tell by my tan I was ready to die..

Gracie knows how to make waves in the tub. I'll send her over and she can give you a lesson...and a leaky bathroom floor. :)

Alright if you can tell me how to get rid of this cold thing, please let me know. I had a massage today and it was so uncomfortable trying not to drip on the floor.

Given that I had a high of 59 degrees today, I think it's best if I don't even discuss the beach.

I hate sand. I like what the beach represents, but would prefer looking at the beach from a swim-up bar in a pool in the hotel overlooking the beach.

You are the fourth person I know with a cold. And it's May. What's with that? I agree--you can't beat the beach :)

I'm so jealous...I'm seriously beginning to doubt this whole "global warming" thing, what with the sub-artic temps we're still having!

Anyhoo, heads-up: I tagged you today on my blog! http://allisonwinnscotch.blogspot.com. Don't hate me. :)

The beach makes so much better...it helped your cold, right? The sun bakes out the germs, the salt in the air & water kills them...it makes you healthier and all you have to do is sit there :)

Yay Allee!!!
