Why you shouldn't go grocery shopping hungry

I walked into the grocery store and BAM! Hello, preservative-laden chocolate chip cookies! There was a massive stack of them literally two steps inside the door, and they were 40 cents off, and I'm sorry, but I am weak.

I'm also about to throw up.

(In my defense, I did spend a whole hour in the kitchen tonight trying to make this chicken and brown rice thing I saw in a magazine. It wasn't BAD but it wasn't GREAT, so I took three bites and then I was off to the cookies. But at least I TRIED to eat like a grown-up before having chocolate chip cookies--RANDOM chocolate chip cookies, by the way ... I mean, when do I ever buy Soft Batch cookies? EVER?--for dinner. So ... yeah.)

At least you got the regular brand. I went to the store last night knowing I have not had a cookie in since I think before Christmas. I get home and see that I got the store brand packaged the same. For everyone's purpose, know that Kroger Chocolate Chunk cookies is not the same as Chip Ahoy. On another note, I guess i am delurking myself a week late. Great blog.

Cookies are yummy. If that is the only bad thing you got from grocery shopping hungry, then you were doing pretty good.

That's funny. I'm so guilty of this sometimes too, though it's usually with something random like a Dutch Letter or some baklava. My hips are not pleased.

oh look, the package has a "new look!" i'm sure that's what tempted you to buy them, and the fact that you could save 40 cent. and just think of all the things that little elf can do, hey ooooooo!

I think the cookies are way better for you than chicken and brown rice anyways.....

Funnt how you should mention an 'impulse buy' such as these cookies - as I stuff my face with the Cheddar Jack Cheez-it's I bought for, let me think here, $.19 off.

In my defense, they are really good!!

Oh, and I finally decided to de-lurk myself here, as well. I enjoy your sense of humour and sense of the world around you.

Have a nice weekend!

Why waste your time on chicken and rice?

And so nice of mylhibug to stop being a lurker and start living in the land of bloggers huh?

Love me some cookies, but weigh in is tomorrow.

Oh wait, what am I talking about? I had two snickerdoodles from Starbucks today to go along with my new habit there... Refresh tea.

And I've got a pay it forward story I must tell... I bought a boy a coffee! Random!!!

But Soft Batch Chocolate Chip cookies are yummy.

I almost NEVER buy store bought cookies, but the few times I have, those damn soft batch cookies come a callin'! They always tempt me so. They are so soft and I love me some soft cookies. I hate hard crunchy ones. Those kind don't even seem worth it to me.

Oooh, delurk day! How fun! Welcome, you two!

And the cookies are SO almost gone. Ha ha.

Ugh, I've had that happen before with the recipe. I get all jazzed about trying a new recipe and then when it flops, I head right to the potato chips (I'm a salty kind of gal).

Have you ever warmed them in the microwave? Just put them in for like 10 or 15 seconds. Trust me! YUMMY!

Soft Batch cookies are probably the only cookies known to man that I could walk right past. Well, and any cookies that have coconut in them.

cookies for dinner sound so yum, especially soft batch. Those used to be the bomb treat in my house growing up

i call Soft Batch cookies "chemical cookies" bc there's no way they could stay soft on the shelf without a massive injection of chemicals. so i dont eat them.

but don't try comin' round with a bag of oreos....those are TOTALLY natural. and healthy. and fun to eat right before you get in the dentist's chair. hey, they should have to earn their money, right? i'm just sayin'...

Oh, my gosh, my absolute die-hard, take-on-a-desert-island favorite are chocolate-covered Oreos. If there was ever a shortage, I would commit all varieties of crimes to get them. LOVE them!

Hi Swishy!
I just found your blog & I have been peeing my pants laughing over your posts. LOVE your blog & love cookies for dinner. Last week I polished off a package of Oreo's in 2 days (with a smidge of help from DH) Oh so good but my tummy was NOT happy with me!
Thanks for the laughs,
Alane

OMG...I love those and want them really bad but the Brits don't have Keebler elves here! AHHHHH...What to do about my craving? Oh and the best is if you place the cookies in the microwave for 15 seconds...taste like they just popped out of the oven!

At 9:33 AM, Blogger Trish said...

Oh I have a weakness for chocolate chip cookies too and don't see any reason not to have them for dinner...with a glass of milk.

I didn't think I was hungry when I went grocery shopping the other day; I had made menues for the week, had a grocery list - AND I STILL BOUGHT CRAP!! And do I eat the oranges or the apples when I'm needing a snack? Of course not!
