Because I'm tired

And not all that chatty tonight, I bring you ... Swishy's favorite movie scenes!

This scene is so super cute, I seriously saw this movie in the theater like four times JUST TO SEE THIS PART. I'm serious. I love it more than all the chocolate in the world, and that's a lot. I just adore it.

And this one? Make fun of me all you want, I don't care, but this is the best kissing scene in a movie ever. It's also the first one I remember with any clarity. (I remember being COMPLETELY MORTIFIED when I saw it with my parents.) Actually, I like the part right before it even better, where they're all yelling at each other and there's all this pent-up sexual tension and then BOOM!

(This clip has Spanish subtitles. It was the only one I could find. Ha ha.)

Tom Cruise was seriously the hottest thing on two legs back then. Just LOOK at him! He was the first man I ever fantasized about, and you know what? Even though he's a little crazy and married to Joey Potter now, I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I also love the part in Jerry Maguire where Renee Zellweger's like, "I love him! I dooooo! I love him, and I don't care what you think. I love him for the man he wants to be, and I love him for the man he almost is ..." Also the part where she's like, "I was on some wild ride, where I thought I was in love enough for the both of us ..." You know, that whole "That's not how I'm built" scene in the backyard. Also the part in 13 Going on 30 where Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo kiss by the swingset. SO CUTE! And ... let's see. Ohhhh, the part in Love Actually where Laura Linney gets to dance with the cute guy, and where the other cute guy shows up at Keira Knightley's house with cue cards that profess his love. (And when she realizes he likes her ... I think I like that part even more. Chills!!) And in Gone with the Wind, where Scarlett realizes she's really in love with Rhett. Oh! And you know the part in Sleepless in Seattle, where Meg Ryan's driving down the road, listening to Tom Hanks talk on the radio? LOVE IT.

I sound like such a sappy romantic. Ha.

What's your favorite movie scene?

Great clips!! Yeah, Tom Cruise definitely had it goin' on. Craziness aside, he still does.

Gosh it's early and I haven't had coffee and as far as favorite scene I've got nuthin. I'll have to think about it.

Hope you're having a good day!!

What is that first movie from? I haven't seen it.

I love Jerry McGuire. In fact I'm going to watch it this weekend. Great movie all the way around.

My favorite of all-time is the scene in St. Elmo's Fire when Billy and Wendy finally get together. It just kills me that they both know they love each other but probably aren't good for each other at that particular time. And then he leaves to try to make something out of himself. Ugh! I always made up my own after-the-movie ending that he comes back and they live happily ever after. Sigh.

For completely different reasons, I also love the scene in Steel Magnolias when M'Lynn breaks down after Shelby's funeral. Completely heartbreaking. I cry buckets every time I see that.

Oh! And pretty much any scene in When Harry Met Sally.

OH! I can keep my emotions at bay until this scene. Then I lose it. But in the next scene I'm cracking up!

I love that movie and great to watch whenever I need an internal cleansing. LOL

The first one makes me want to learn to tap dance :)

I can't do the Cruise clips, though. I'm not sure if that's because of his current weirdness or because I've fallen for one to many guys because of "the man he almost is" and found that "almost" is a rather to parameterless description.

(Is that even a sentence???)

I love you Trish. You can kiss that toad all day -- he's still going to be a toad at the end of it.

Swishy, I'm going to get back to you as I am a little salty these days, not with hubby, even so -- all I can think of is that scene at the end of War of the Roses where they have beaten each other and are laying there dying and he reaches out to her in his final moment and she shoves his hand away in her final moment.

I'll have a talk with my inner romantic and get back on this one.

Even my big, manly husband has cried at the Steel Magnolias scene. I love that movie!

OK, I should be packing right now but instead I'm getting all goopy over these love scenes!

My two faves, and if your my BBFF you will find them and post them on your blog cuz I don't know how to do it:

Sixteen Candles--Jake Ryan and Samantha sitting on the dining room table, "make a wish," blah blah blah, and then they kiss.

Still my fave movie ever!

And then, Say Anything, In Your Eyes with Lloyd Dobbler holding the boom box.

You know it's an amazing movie when you remember the characters' names!

Please, swishy, please, post those two for me! I'll love you forever!

The first movie is Garden State.

I am LOVING all those scenes! And yes, Manic, I will find them just for you later on.

I was thinking about it later and I was like, OK, I like funny scenes! Suspenseful scenes! But all my FAVORITES are totally girlie.

years ago tom cruise was on the cover of rolling stone (?) and he was jumping in the air and there were flames all around him and as soon as my eyes took in that cover i heartbrokenly blurted out, "tom cruise is gay"...three girls overheard my newly formed opinion and insisted i take it back. but i couldn't. that cover was soooo obviously symbolic. he was a flamer. and it broke my heart to know his secret, cause i loved him in top gun.

My favourite movie scene is at the end of Notting Hill in the press conference when Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant smile at each other across the room (after she's said she'd stay) as if there's no on in the room at all.

Garden State made me cry at the end of it. A boo hoo cry. I am a sap.

I agree with Manic, Sixteen Candles was awesome. Say Anything was my first date with my now Hubby. That will always have a special place in my heart.

oh I have a lot:
Hope Floats - when they start slow dancing at the country dance.
My Best Friend's Wedding - when they are on the boat and it should have been the moment Jules said I love you, but she lets the moment pass.
UnFaithful - when Diane Lane is on the commuter train remembering the affair she just started (great acting)
Traffic - when Catherine Zeta Jones' gets all gangsta and yells at the hired hit man to kill an informant.
The Holiday - when Cameran goes back and Jude Law is crying
Vanilla Sky (don't hate me) - but when Penelope tells Tom she has a secret to tell him, he bends down to hear it, and she kisses him.
Closer - when Julia and Clive are yelling their faces off at each other...that is just genius in my opinion.
Cold Mountain - Nicole Kidman telling Jude Law, "I marry you,I marry you, I marry you"

I've got tons that I cannot think of on the top of my head!

Great post! and I love the Garden State clip "I can tap dance" ;)

Loved the clips! Made me smile, and I really needed a good smile. I think Tom Cruise is such a cutie too. I love the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, especially when Cathy Bates gets her parking spot or should I say gets her revenge when those young girls take her spot. LOVE THAT MOVIE. ENJOY your Friday.

Tom Cruise in Rainman. Everyone talks about Dustin Hoffman, but he was awesome. You have to spend some time with someone with Autism to really understand how good he was.

The best scene - "Underwear is underwear!! It doesn't matter where you buy it!!"

Good choices! I too watched that Top Gun with my mom and I think probably covered my eyes. Or started talking about how good the Bears were going to be that year. Awkward!

Hope Floats, Love Actually and the 13 Going on 30 scenes are ALL good ones! And The Holiday. Because Jude Law? Yummy!

I'm just a sucker for it like you Swish. Can be so therapeutic!

OK, I love, love, love The Holiday. I watched it this week and I find it VERY empowering!

I thought of another: In My Big Fat Greek Wedding, the part where John Corbett and Nia Vardalos are sitting on the floor of the travel agency. CUTE!
