Random poll

"I've only left work in the middle of the day to go watch a movie 10 times in the past 6 1/2 years. I think most people would say that's not too bad."

Agree or disagree?

(I'll tell you the story later!)

Oh oopsie I did that before but I was "sick" and what else do you do but watch movies when you're sick? The sad part is that I watched the same movie everytime...I'm not going to mention the name of the aforementioned movie, because I only know one other person who thinks its as funny as I did. I haven't wtached it all in almost 3 years..YAY me!

Is it 6.5 years at the SAME company? Then I would say it's OK. Especially if work is done on weekends or if this person is known to work late often.

However, if this person has had 6 jobs in the last 6 years, I'd say maybe no.

Does this person just walk out, leave to go see a movie, or does he/she at least feign sickness and get the OK to leave for the day?

Walking out without the OK is wrong.

Getting the OK even by feigning sickness is lying, but it's still better than walking out.

One other thing to consider? Is this person walking out to go watch porn, Academy Award nominees, Shrek movies? There are so many facets to consider before deciding what is right and what is wrong.

Oh, btw, I GOT CALLED FOR JURY DUTY--GRAND jury duty. If I answer your question with so many other 'what if's' what do you think the court is going to do to me?? Plus, I'm scared they might ask me if I'm a democrat or republican cuz I don't know, but maybe me not knowing makes me one or the other?

I'm not sure about that either.

It is a bad thing to stay at work if there's a good movie out there. I call it "Calling in well." When I feel too good to go to work. There are sooooo many things to do that are better than work.

And make sure you NEVER leave a movie to go to work.

I think it is definitely okay, especially knowing how much/hard you work. You go girl!

Folks, I am willing to bed that it wasn't Swishy who bagged out of work; in fact I didn't even consider it was her who did this so I will be shocked when she IMs me to tell me she bagged out of work to go see Catch And Release--did you, huh? Did you!?!? I thought you were asking about it cuz someone else did it?!

Mental Health Days ... very important to your mental well being.
That being said, I have never left work to see a movie .. but I have left to get a mani/pedi or a cut & blow dry ... so whatever ... mental health baby - gotta take care of it!

I've bagged work for a long sushi lunch w/martinis, an improptu trip to the zoo, a mental health day at the beach and many a long nap. But never for a movie. Somehow, though, I don't think I can judge our mantinee lover :)

Verrrrrrry interesting! I was out of town for a couple days, but I'll be back with the story in a little bit ...

I say that is too bad- you should do this more often. Life short.

Um, well, I guess I'd have to disagree. My husband and I always disagree on the merits of taking mental health days. I grew up Catholic which means lots and lots of guilt. There is no way I could leave work to go and watch a movie...unless I took vacation time. But that's just me. I'm not a risk-taker by any stretch.

Hope you're well dear!

Oh, Karen, I am right there with you. I am EXACTLY the same way!

For Manic's questions ... same company, just walks out and goes to watch porn. HA. Just kidding, no porn. Maybe some Academy Award nominees. If there's a hot chick with a nude scene, then yes.

And GRAND JURY DUTY?!?! Holy crap, am I laughing at that one. When do you go???
